The donation of November 2017 goes to:
Croix-Rouge Malagasy (IFRC Madagascar)
The Malagasy Red Cross is scaling up community surveillance, contact tracing and communication in an effort to prevent further spread of a plague outbreak that has killed 100+ people in Madagascar so far. While the plague, better known as the Black Death, isn’t common in many parts of the world, there are yearly outbreaks of both the bubonic and the pneumonic plague in Madagascar. Typically cases are seen between October and March.
A plague treatment centre is being established in Andohatapenaka.
